Sea of Hope

SEA OF HOPE
I’ve been fallin’ on sad days
They drift across the sky
Like sea birds that got no home
I’ve been fallin on sad days
Forgotten how to smile
Turn your tide towards my heart
I’ve fallen in Seas of Hope
Into the arms of a lightning bolt
Don’t you swim with me, ‘cause I’ll only get, you drowned
I’ve been fallin on sad days
Tryin’ to catch my breath
Pulling at it on a fishing line
I’ve been fallin on sad days
I know there’s fish to catch
But hunger starts with an empty net
I’ve fallen in Seas of Hope
Into the arms of a lightning bolt
I’ve seen the shadow of a Hang Mans Rope
It’s pulled me back from this, icy slope
Don’t you swim with me, ‘cause I’ll only get, you drowned
Drowned, Drowned

Two Guns
04:10
|
|||
2 guns at the table
And I can’t decide
2 guns at the table
The sun is hot and soon will be high
But my aim is steady
Thought my fingers shake
And my fate is deadly
‘cause my heart tends to break
The guns are both loaded
But I could run into the sunset
The guns are both loaded
By I could run into the sunset
Oh Lord, Shoot me down
Oh Lord, Shoot me down
2 guns at the table
Ones pretty and ones old
That one seems familiar
This ones story’s to be told
Get your guns at the ready
Because I’ll be comin around the bend
Once I choose that weapon
Someones bound to meet their end
The guns are both loaded
But I could run into the sunset
The guns are both loaded
By I could run into the sunset
Oh Lord, Shoot me down
Oh Lord, Shoot me down

Blues and Cigars
02:44
|
|||
Stars in my eyes, Champagne surprise
It’s painful, it reminds me
Ink in his arms, now doing harm
Gonna put down my guns and walk away
Om pa pa…. Om pa pa …. Om pa pa….
I’ll kick up dust and the dust will go up, up UP
Up in the air like smoke rings
Hike up my skirt, rebel and flirt
Champagne is painful, reminds me of
Blues and Cigars
Blues and Cigars
Nobody gets harmed by Blues and Cigars
My restless hands play the piani
Smoking Havanas in the ashtray
My cup of tea sings out for hot whiskey
So come sing with me my black beauty
Blues and Cigars
Blues and Cigars
Nobody gets harmed by Blues and Cigars
Blues and Cigars
Blues and Cigars
Don’t let me be charmed by Blues and Cigars
Led me away, for maybe a day
I’m yours completely
Keep kissing me till morning light
Kiss me goodnight and leave me
Blues and Cigars
Blues and Cigars
Nobody gets harmed by Blues and Cigars
Blues and Cigars
Blues and Cigars
Don’t let me be charmed by Blues and Cigars
Blues and Cigars
Blues and Cigars
The horse and the hound singing Blues and Cigars
Blues and Cigars
Blues and Cigars
My hands are bound by Blues and Cigars
Om pa pa…. Om pa pa …. Om pa pa….Pop!

Oh My Stars
04:40
|
|||
Oh my stars, light my scars.
Pull them apart, and slowly rub salt in
‘Cause it’s all just a game. Don’t have to win but you have to play
So, I choose beauty, instead of walking my own grave
Oh my stars, fall upon his path
He can put you in his jar, and you can light his way
For his timing is tragic, even more so than a play
But my skin feels electric, when his hands start to play
Lay my head down by the river
Stretch my arms up on the clay
Wrap my hair round
The roots of the Willow
Oh my stars, Fill up his heart
And make mine dark, so I can run away
And I’ll go to the west, where my anchor will finally rest
That’s where I’ll stay
Till I hear him call my name…..
Lay my head down by the river
Stretch my arms up on the clay
Wrap my hair round
The roots of the Willow.

Box of Matches
03:15
|
|||
I’ve got a new Box of Matches
I’ve got a new Box of Matches
And I’ve been burning all of my bridges
My new Box of Matches
Cross at my breast
I’ve got this cross at my chest
And I confess just what I’ve done, go get your gun, Hun
Cross at my breast
I’ve got a new Box of Matches
I’ve got a new Box of Matches
And we’ve got plans to burn this town to ashes
My new Box of Matches
I’m a wanted woman
Ooooh
I’m a wanted woman
I’m a wanted woman
Oh yes, I’m his wanted woman
There’s a bounty on my head, bring me alive or bring me dead
I’m his wanted woman
I’ve got a new Box of Matches
I’ve got a new Box of Matches
And he’s got plans to burn all of my feathers
My new Box of Matches
New tattoo
I’ve gotta new tattoo
They found me in a hotel room with smokin’ guns and bullet wounds
New tattoos
I’ve lost my new Box of Matches
I’ve lost my new Box of Matches
He left my body naked and cold and now he burns in Mexico
Oh, my new box Box of Matches
Burn.

Porcelain Hands
02:42
|
|||
I can tell by the way your eyes are filling up with water
I can see by the way your hands are shakin like a leaf
I can feel your heart is scared of breaking
In my Tiny Porcelain Hands
Whoa oh oh oh……
Trust in me you’re in very good hands
I can tell by the way that I’ve got goosebumps on my skin
And you can see by the way my boots are shakin at my knees
I can feel your heart is scared of breaking
In my well educated hands
Whoa oh oh oh……
Trust in me you’re in very good hands
I can tell by the way that I’ve been nibbling at my lip
And you can see by the way that we are joining up the hip
And I can feel your heart is scared of breaking
In my Tiny Porcelain Hands.
Whoa oh oh oh……
Trust in me you’re in very good hands

Mr Walker
02:36
|
|||
I won’t let him on the back porch
No, I wont let him get to my child
I wont let him kiss my trembling lips
I wont let him see me smile, when I say
Mr Walker, Walk alone
‘cause this lover isn’t home
Mr Walker,Walk alone
Get back, get lost, get gone
Now I’ve locked up the front door
Now he’s throwing pebbles at the pane of glass
I won’t let him kiss my trembling lips
Please sir, all I ask
Hear me
Mr Walker, Walk alone
‘cause this lover isn’t home
Mr Walker,Walk alone
Get back, get lost, get gone
I’ve been waking in the night, my body soaking wet
My gut is trembling like a leaf, my head is all a mess
All the suffering, all the pain, makes me smile, for I think again that
I don’t need you
No, I don’t need you
No oh, don’t let me….
Kiss You.
Now I’ve locked up the front door
Now he’s throwing pebbles at the pane of glass
I won’t let him kiss my trembling lips
Please sir, all I ask
Hear me
Mr Walker, Walk alone
‘cause this lover isn’t home
Mr Walker,Walk alone
Get back, get lost, get gone
Get along home.

Tin Soldiers
02:53
|
|||
Too cold to fight, your goddam right, that I will fight alone
You take this knife, and cut the night, into a thousand bones.
And I can’t wait to see your face, after the war is done
You play with your Tin Soldiers until the battles won.
Take my heart
Put it in your gun
Take my heart, and blow it all to Kingdom come
Too cold to write about suicide, and opera for one.
So I’ll stand aside, and light the fire, and burn it bright for love
You play with your Tin soldiers, their burning in my hearth.
The purist love, the Tin Foil Heart, the ashes of the earth.
Take my heart
Put it in your gun
Take my heart, and blow it all to Kingdom come

The Ferryman
05:18
|
|||
She wakes at dawn and slips out of bed
She twist her knotted hair, flames of red
Her naked toes kiss the marble floor
And as she tip toes towards the double doors
She’s creeping past scores of rooms
Filled with antiques and heirlooms
Whistling the same old tune of
Poisoned hearts and dusty tombs
Silently she opens the double doors
The morning air is wet and engulfs her
Her satin gown slips off her pale hips
And as she sighs she drifts down to river Styx
And while she passes picked fences
White roses, bad intentions
Whistling the same old tune of
Ships and sails and silver moons
Two coins for The Ferryman stolen from her next of kin
Steal her away from home and take her
To her lovers bones
She hands the coins over to The Ferryman
She says “ My child, you must be mistaken
I can tell these coins don’t belong to you
You stole them from the man you wed
The man you slew”
“you may never cross my river
You’re doomed to haunt forever
You lovers bones are not with me
You died that day yet
He still breathes”
Two coins for The Ferryman stolen from her next of kin
Steal her away from home and take her
To her lovers bones

Tombstone
04:40
|
|||
Funny what goes through your mind
When you know you’re running out of time
And as I lay here tied to these railway tracks
I wonder how those wheels can spin so fast
Whoa oh
Vultures circle above me, above my head
Sun has burnt my lips, bloody cracked and red
And as I hear the whistle blowing down the track
I hum along to the train that’s bound to break my back
Whoa oh
Throw the petals to the wind
Black tulips on my grave
And the words upon my Tombstone
Another soul that can’t be saved, so I
Take my secrets to my grave
My sunburnt face cooled by a shadow
Two rushing hands under my elbows
Trying to release me, trying to save my soul
Who are you my lovely, I may never know
Whoa oh
Throw the petals to the wind
Black tulips on my grave
And the words upon my Tombstone
Another soul that can’t be saved, so I
Take my secrets to my grave

Spectacular
04:55
|
|||
Don’t you ask me to be her
I promised myself I would never be her again
I can’t break when I’m bending
But I’ve broken something I just cannot mend
I tread lightly but behind me
Are earthquakes that swallow up broken men
But in my heart there is Bardo
And its fertile ground feeds off the ashes of death.
But, you’re made of something Spectacular
Drawing me in
This is the dawning of the rapture and we both know what devils lie within
Yet still
We begin
Take from my table I beg of you
As you know, my door is open wide
But in your house there are catacombs
Where your love and dreams they, come to die
But you’re made of something Spectacular
Drawing me in
This is the dawning of the rapture and we both know what devils lie within
Yet still
We begin
My names Jolene I am the woman from the fables
My auburn hair, my voice of spring
I am quite able to be
The bringer of the earthquakes that swallow up the cradles
Don’t ask me to be her
But don’t ask me to leave here.

Miss Peach and the Travellin' Bones Auckland, New Zealand
I fled a life of comfort and familiarity and thrust myself into a new harsh world. A world I was alone in, and had no one to trust except my own hearts beat, and the sun’s promise of dawn...and on the long dark nights, as the devil knocked upon my door, my music spoke the truth of my heart. It spoke of the earthquakes I left behind and the sung of the woman I was yet to come. ... more
